Abstract
This article explores the synergy between Maqasid Shariah and the local wisdom of the Malay-Islamic Archipelago in shaping the traits, character, and personality of the new Malay identity. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study discusses five philosophical elements of the new Malay character: religious spirit, virtuous ancestry, knowledge culture, economic contributions, and technological performance. Through the integration of universal and local values, this study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach in preserving and developing Malay cultural identity. The article concludes with a reflection on the challenges and opportunities in realizing an adaptive and globally competitive new Malay character.
