Abstract
The Malay literary tradition, particularly pantun and gurindam, plays a significant role in defining the identity and character of the Malay nation. This article explores the concept of "New Malay," formulated in the form of gurindam as a response to social, cultural, and globalization changes. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes the meaning and relevance of the New Malay Gurindam as a reflection of the dynamic identity of the Malay people. The research also highlights the cultural fusion shaping the new generation of Malays in the modern era, including universal and local values reflected in the gurindam. This study aims to demonstrate how gurindam serves as a medium of literary communication and a tool for cultural transformation relevant to the 21st century
